Wandering Bear Coffee Caffeine Content: Expect Some Pep!

Wandering Bear Cold Brew jumpstarts your morning more than the average cup.

Wandering Bear Cold Brew coffee was formulated to be equal parts strong and smooth, and it definitely hits the mark. Whether you opt for straight black or one of their creative flavors, you’re going to be getting as much caffeine as a double shot of espresso. And it goes down oh so easy.

Let’s take a closer look at what to expect when you sip a cup of Wandering Bear Coffee.

How Much Caffeine Is In Wandering Bear Coffee?

Founded by friends Matt and Ben in 2014, Wandering Bear is their caffeinated love letter to cold brew coffee. It’s the sweetest, smoothest, and peppiest brew they could formulate – made from 100% certified Organic Arabica coffee beans.

Each 6-ounce serving has roughly 150 mg of caffeine, which is equivalent to about two shots of espresso or a slightly larger serving of regular brewed black coffee.

Wandering Bear coffee is available as a straight black cold brew or in ten different flavors, which change regularly with the seasons. You can always expect classics like caramel and vanilla, but more exciting options like S’mores come and go. The amount of caffeine is identical in every case – as is the sugar content, which is zero.

There are two exceptions to the above rule, the decaf and the concentrate, both of which are available only in straight black. The concentrate has 150 mg of caffeine per 1.5-ounce serving, which is designed to be diluted to 6 ounces with water or milk. The decaf has roughly 7 to 8 mg of caffeine per 6 ounces, as decaffeinated beans are never entirely caffeine-free.

How Does The Bear Compare?

Let’s compare Wandering Bear’s caffeine content to a few other popular cold brew brands.

Wandering Bear Vs Stumptown

The caffeine levels in Stumptown cold brew vary depending on the precise product. The Original Cold Brew, Nitro Cold Brew, and Hairbender Nitro Cold Brew all have upwards of 250 mg of caffeine in their 10.5-ounce servings – similar to Wandering Bear.

The 11-ounce bottles of Cold Brew with Oatly, Chocolate Oatly, and Horchata Oatly are much lower in caffeine, with just 130 mg. Stumptown’s Cold Brew Concentrate has 257 mg of caffeine in 5 ounces and is designed to be diluted 1:1 (1).

Wandering Bear Vs Starbucks

Starbucks cold brew coffee has 155 mg of caffeine in a 12-ounce Tall size, 205 mg in a 16-ounce Grande, and 310 mg in a 24-ounce Venti. Order a Trenta if you dare; it has 360 mg of caffeine – nearly the recommended daily safe limit (2).

Starbucks Nitro cold brew coffee has 245 mg of caffeine in a tall and 345 mg in a grande.

Final Thoughts

Wandering Bear Cold Brew is one of the strongest on the market, with 150 mg of caffeine in just 6 ounces. This makes it an easy (and cost-effective) way to jumpstart your workday or kick off a hard workout! On the other hand, proceed with caution if you’re sensitive to caffeine. It’s so delicious and smooth, it’s easy to go over the limit.

FAQs

Stumptown’s Original Stubby has 257 mg of caffeine in a 10.5-ounce bottle, which ranks it among the most caffeinated bottled cold brews. The brand’s Hairbender Nitro Cold Brew has even more, with 289 mg in a 10.3-ounce serving, but it comes in a can rather than a bottle.

A single-serving 13.7-ounce Stok Cold Brew bottle has 145 mg of caffeine, considerably less per ounce than Wandering Bear, Stumptown, or Starbucks. The larger 48-ounce Stok bottles have roughly 125 mg of caffeine per serving.

You can easily make your own cold brew coffee at home by steeping coarsely ground coffee beans in cold water in a Mason jar, French press, or cold brew coffee maker for up to 24 hours. Filter out the grounds after steeping. You can adjust the caffeine content by experimenting with your choice of coffee beans and coffee-to-water ratio.
